Project overview
A Federal Government of Canada department required a solution to catalogue, classify, analyze and migrate unstructured data from both Network Shared Drives, SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013, and SharePoint 2013 to SharePoint 2016. Using the MiCore software ecosystem, a customized migration agent was implemented to provide automation to a previously manual process.

- Justice Canada
MiCore
The MiCore platform was key in cataloguing specific Shared Drive and SharePoint 2010 content in order to generate content inventories. This allowed Business Analysts to develop comprehensive business rules to classify and enrich the metadata of their assets.
The updated content inventories were then used to aid the migration of assets to both SharePoint 2013 and SharePoint 2016. Enterprise keywords, enriched metadata and original metadata were maintained and migrated to the new destination. Throughout the engagement, AI was leveraged, using natural language processing (NLP) and Entity Extraction (EE) to identify, normalize, classify and transform the digital assets.
Value realization
- Re-usable workflow and framework for automated migrations
- Speed and accuracy of transformations
- Rules-based normalization and metadata enrichment
- Post-migration validation
